When a birthday gift dynamites your evening ! Éric is going to celebrate his fifty years. Sabine, his devoted wife, has prepared an intimate evening for his birthday because Éric does not like large rallies. Gilles, his best friend — but also his associate—will be the only one invited there.  Before coming to the table to enjoy a good coq au vin, Sabine and Gilles offer him his gifts. That of his wife is the height of joy... but when he discovers Gilles' one, he just strangles himself! Flummoxed, he lets go: But why are you offering me this ?!   From disappointments to explosive revelations, the evening will then prove to be much less peaceful than expected...
